Why

The first pair joins a description of a person to the plain feeling behind it: someone bad-tempered is angry. Flabbergasted describes a person struck by shock, so the plain feeling is astonished. Annoyed is tempting because it belongs to the same family as angry, but annoyance is mild irritation and has nothing to do with shock.
