Keeping children safe with a tutor

Every tutor on Temari.et is checked by our team before families can hire them, and agrees to a code of conduct before applying. If something about a tutor or a lesson worries you, you can tell us from the app or the website.

What Temari.et does

  • A national ID, photographed on the spot

Each tutor gives their Fayda number and photographs both sides of the card with their device's camera while they apply. The form will not take a picture of the card that was saved earlier. They take the photo of their own face with the camera too, wherever the device has one, and a reviewer on our team checks it against the card.

  • An interview before approval

The Temari.et team may set a written exam in each subject a tutor teaches, and it always holds an interview. In the interview the tutor teaches a short practice lesson and is asked how they keep children safe. A tutor is approved only after passing it.

  • Each check shown on the profile

A tutor's profile carries a mark for every check they passed: the Fayda ID, each exam with its score, and the interview. A check they have not passed is left off.

  • A record of every lesson

The tutor logs each lesson on Temari.et, and you confirm it or raise a problem with it within three days. The Temari.et team looks at any lesson you question before the tutor is paid for it.

  • Our team opens your chat only for a dispute or a safety concern

The Temari.et team can open a contract's chat only while a problem with one of its lessons or a concern about a child's safety is open, and for 30 days after it is closed. We keep a record of every time they do. If you or the tutor report a message from the chat, that message goes to our team with the report.

  • A safety concern reaches our team at once

A report about a child's safety goes straight to the Temari.et team by text, by email and in the app. Only our team reads a report. We do not tell the person you reported who sent it.

The tutor code of conduct

Every tutor reads these rules and agrees to them before sending their application. A tutor who breaks them can lose their place on Temari.et.

  1. Keep lessons, messages and payments on Temari.et. Never ask a family to pay you directly.
  2. Arrive on time, and tell the family well ahead if you cannot come.
  3. Treat every learner with respect. Never hit, shame or threaten a child.
  4. For lessons at home, teach where a parent or another adult can see you.
  5. Keep what you learn about a family private, and never share a learner's photos.
  6. Teach what you agreed to, and record each lesson honestly.

How to report a concern

If something about a tutor or a lesson worries you, tell the Temari.et team from the app or the website. You do not have to be sure before you report it. A tutor can report a concern about a contract or a job post the same way.

  1. Open your contract with the tutor in the Temari.et app, or on temari.et after you sign in.
  2. Press Report a concern at the top of the contract. In the app it is the shield. To report one lesson, press the shield beside that lesson.
  3. Choose what happened. A child's safety is first on the list. Add a few words if you can, and send it.
  4. If you have not hired the tutor, open their profile and press Report near the top. In the app it is the flag.
  5. To report a message, press and hold it in the chat (on a computer, right-click it) and choose Report.
  6. If a lesson did not go the way the tutor recorded it, open the lesson in your contract and press Report a problem within three days.

Talk to a person

If a child is in danger right now, call the police on 991 first. To reach the Temari.et team, use the numbers on our contact page.
