When you use it

Use when identifying river flow directions, river basins, catchment sizes, or destinations of Ethiopian rivers.

Watch out

When you use it

Use when classifying natural vegetation types according to altitudinal limits and rainfall characteristics.

Watch out

Gallery or riverine forests exist in lowland zones below 1500 m despite surrounding dry conditions because they rely on riverbank soil moisture rather than local rainfall.

Practice questions on unit 3

10 multiple-choice questions written against this chapter, each with its answer and the reason. Try one before you open the answer.

Question 1

Which of the following is categorized as a non-renewable natural resource?

  1. A.Soil
  2. B.Solar radiation
  3. C.Natural gas
  4. D.Geothermal energy
Show the answer and why

Answer: C Natural gas

Why

Natural gas, crude oil, coal, and all minerals cannot be regenerated by nature and exist in limited amounts, which makes them non-renewable resources. Soil, solar radiation, and geothermal energy are renewable resources.
