Who the call is for
The two universities are addressing one group, and the post is specific about it. You are being invited to register if all of this is true of you:
- You sat the 2018 E.C. Grade 12 national exam.
- You scored 50 percent or more on it.
- You were a natural science candidate.
Fifty percent is 300 out of 600, the same mark the Ministry used when it announced that 70,544 of the 550,210 candidates who sat had passed. So the group being called here is a slice of that 70,544: the natural science half of it.
The programmes on offer are in applied science and engineering. The full list of fields was published separately, on the universities' Facebook pages, and the Telegram post links to it rather than repeating it.
How to register
- 1
Open the registration site
The post gives stuoexam.astu.edu.et as the registration address, with www.astu.edu.et and www.aastu.edu.et as the two university sites to go through. Read the caution below before you rely on the first one.
- 2
Register before the window shuts
Registration is entirely online. It closes at midnight on ጳጉሜን 03, 2018 E.C., which is 8 September 2026.
- 3
Choose your test centre while registering
You pick the centre you will travel to as part of registering, and you sit the test there in person.
- 4
Watch for the test date
The universities say the date will be announced after registration closes, so keep the days after 8 September free until you know.
What the test covers
The universities have told applicants to start preparing now, and they have named the subjects. The test is drawn from the Grade 9 to 12 syllabus in five of them:
- Biology
- Chemistry
- Physics
- Mathematics
- English
Test centres that do not draw enough applicants may be folded into the nearest centre that did, so the place you register for is not certain to be the place you sit. That is another reason to watch for the announcement rather than plan a journey around the centre you picked.
What to bring on the day
- Your 2018 E.C. Grade 12 national exam result.
- Your exam admission card, or an identity document.
- A copy of your registration confirmation.
This is the second university entrance test called for this cohort in a fortnight. Addis Ababa University opened its own Undergraduate Admission Test on 25 August, and that one closes on 4 September, four days before this one. A candidate who wants both is registering for both, separately.
