Open the results portal
Go to result.ethernet.edu.et. This is the Ministry's National Examination Result Page, and it holds several exams at once.
- 2
Choose Remedial Examination
The page lists five categories: Exit Examination, NGAT, Remedial Examination, TVET and TDP. Remedial is the third card. Press View Results under it.
- 3
Enter your username
The portal asks for the username you used to sit the remedial exam, between 5 and 15 characters, letters and numbers only. It does not ask for an admission number.
- 4
Drop the slash if your username has one
The page carries a note about this, because many registered usernames include one. A username written as username/16 is entered as username.

Students at ten universities say their result reads Disqualified
Within hours of the results opening, students began telling Tikvah Education that their whole result had come back marked Disqualified. Students in the natural science and social science streams at Wolaita Sodo University said theirs was disqualified in full. Students at nine more universities reported the same thing:
- Debre Berhan University
- Wollo University
- Arba Minch University
- Mizan Tepi University
- Semera University
- Bahir Dar University
- Wolkite University
- Oda Bultum University
- Gondar University
The students asked the Ministry of Education to look at what happened, to identify the reason and say what it is, and to settle it quickly. "We want the serious problem we have met on the published result to be heard," is how they put it to the channel.
What is known so far
The exam behind these results ran from ግንቦት 27 to ሰኔ 3 ቀን 2018 ዓ.ም., which is 4 to 10 June 2026, and the Educational Assessment and Examinations Service said at the time that 53,620 people sat it. Those are the only official figures attached to this cycle so far. Nothing has been published about how many passed, what the cut-off is, or how many results carry a Disqualified mark.
No complaint window has been announced for remedial either. The username page carries a Contact Support link, and that is the only route the portal itself offers. If the Ministry opens a complaint process, it will say so, and this page will be updated when it does.
This is a different portal from the Grade 12 result
Two result services are running at once and they are easy to confuse. Grade 12 results live at result.eaes.et and open with an admission number and a first name, and the window for complaining about a Grade 12 score closed at 4:00 PM on 1 September 2026. Remedial results live at result.ethernet.edu.et and open with a username. A remedial student who takes their username to the Grade 12 portal will get nowhere, and the reverse is also true.
What the remedial year is for, and where it sits between the national exam and a university place, is set out in the remedial programme explained. For students placed at a university after it, the Ministry has told every public university that a placed first-year student cannot be moved.
Where do I check my 2018 E.C. remedial result?
At result.ethernet.edu.et. Choose Remedial Examination on the home page, press View Results, and enter the username you used to sit the exam.
The portal will not accept my username. What is wrong?
The field takes 5 to 15 characters, letters and numbers only. If your registered username contains a slash, remove it: username/16 is entered as username. The portal says so on the page itself.
My result says Disqualified. What does that mean?
No explanation has been published. Students at ten universities have reported the same thing and have asked the Ministry of Education to give a reason and resolve it. Until the Ministry responds, nobody can tell you what caused it.
How many people sat the 2018 E.C. remedial exam?
53,620, according to the Educational Assessment and Examinations Service. The exam ran from 4 to 10 June 2026.
