What a place carries
This is a full scholarship rather than a fee waiver, and the terms reach past the first degree.
- Two hundred places for the 2019 E.C. academic year.
- The full cost of study, with a modest stipend alongside it.
- Further support and training through the university's partner institutions.
- Placement in the undergraduate programmes of the seven colleges and the School of Law.
- A postgraduate place at the university afterwards, for the master's degree and the doctorate.
Who can claim one
Section three of the university's own admission notice sets three conditions, and all three have to hold.
- A score of 500 or above in the 2018 E.C. Grade 12 national examination.
- A pass at or above the minimum score in the university's Undergraduate Admission Test.
- A willingness to be placed after the first or second semester, alongside the students on government sponsorship and those paying their own way.
What it takes to keep it
The scholarship is renewed on results, and the bar is set semester by semester rather than at the end of the year. A holder is expected to record a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or above every semester, and to stay in the field of study they were placed in. Both conditions run for the length of the degree.

Apply for admission before the window shuts
Open admission.aau.edu.et, choose Undergraduate application, and work through the form. You will need a Fayda number, the phone that receives its one-time code, an email address, and the Grade 12 result certificate and Grade 9 to 12 transcript as PDFs.

Sit the entrance test
The test runs from 7 to 9 September on the university's own computers. Your centre, date and time are announced separately, on the university web page and the testing centre channel at t.me/aauGAT.

Watch for the placement decision
The notice puts presidential placement after the first or second semester, so the answer does not come with the admission letter. Check the portal's admission status page and keep the account details you signed up with.
