Why are graduates being asked to check their records?
Tikvah University reported on Tikimt 11, 2019 E.C. (21 October 2026) that Bonga University wants graduates to verify their records before the original degrees are printed.
The university's graduate document authentication portal lets a graduate look up their record by student ID number and grandfather's name, read every line against their diploma and send a correction. The portal page says the Registrar reviews a correction before anything is printed.
Which graduates does this affect?
The request is for graduates of several programmes who completed their studies by the end of January 2015 E.C. or the end of 2022 G.C., as Tikvah's report puts it. The report does not name the programmes.
The report says graduates from June 2015 E.C. onward will be told how to proceed later, so they have no instructions yet.
What are the dates, and what do you need?
| Event | Date in both calendars |
|---|---|
| Report published | Tikimt 11, 2019 E.C. (21 October 2026) |
| Confirmation deadline | Tikimt 20, 2019 E.C. (30 October 2026) |
The portal asks for the following, so have them ready before you open it:
What to have ready
- Your student ID number
- Your grandfather's name
- Your diploma, to read each line against
- Your full name in English and in Amharic, as recorded
- Your 16-digit Fayda number and your exit exam username, as recorded
Neither source gives a fee for the printed copy, and neither says how long printing takes. Those have not been announced.
What should you do next?
Check your record
Open the portal, enter your student ID number and grandfather's name, and read every line against your diploma.
Send any correction
If a line is wrong, send the corrected details through the portal before the deadline. The Registrar reviews them before anything is printed.
Confirm in person if the link fails
If the portal cannot show your record, confirm at the Registrar's office in person or through a representative.
Order your copy
Once your details are accepted, order your copy and keep the e-mail reference the portal sends you.
What happens if you do not confirm?
According to Tikvah's report, a record with no reply by the deadline will be printed as it is, and the holder cannot make a complaint about it.
The portal page says the Registrar reviews corrections before printing. Neither source says whether a correction sent after the deadline will be taken up.
