What did Salale University announce?
Tikvah University and Tikvah Education both reported on Tikimt 10, 2019 E.C. (20 October 2026) that Salale University had issued a notice on registration for students who studied at universities in the Tigray region and were temporarily assigned to it. The two channels carried the same text, which gives the registration days as Tikimt 12 and 13, 2019 E.C. (22 and 23 October 2026).
The notice does not name a Ministry of Education directive, and it does not give the decision behind the temporary placement of these students at Salale University.
Which students does this affect?
The notice is addressed to students who were following their studies at universities in the Tigray region and were temporarily assigned to Salale University. Students outside that group are not covered by it.
The notice also lists the departments that will not take students. There are 15, and they are reproduced here as the notice gives them:
- Architecture
- Computer Science and Engineering
- Computer Science and IT
- Critical Care and Emergency Nursing
- Development Economics
- Information Communication Technology
- Geography and Environmental Studies (MA)
- Governance
- Hotel and Tourism Management
- Visual Art
- Natural Resource Economics and Management
- Pediatrics and Child Health Nursing
- Post Basic Nursing
- Psychology
- Urban Planning and Development
When is registration, and what do you need?
| Day | Date in both calendars |
|---|---|
| First registration day | Tikimt 12, 2019 E.C. (22 October 2026) |
| Second registration day | Tikimt 13, 2019 E.C. (23 October 2026) |
The notice says students must bring a Fayda national ID when they go to register. It does not give the registration hours, the place on campus or any fee, and the university has not announced them in this notice.
What should you do now?
Check your department
Before you travel, confirm that your department is not in the list above.
Prepare your Fayda ID
Make sure you have your Fayda national ID with you on both registration days.
Ask for the hours and place
Ask Salale University directly for the registration hours and the place, since the notice does not give them.
What led to this placement?
The notice does not explain why these students were temporarily assigned to Salale University, and the reports do not name an earlier decision or the universities the students left.
Other universities have also set registration days for Tigray transfers. Jinka University registration reports that Jinka will register them on Tikimt 9 and 10, 2019 E.C. (19 and 20 October 2026), in a separate notice.
