The mark does not agree with its own bracket
224 out of 600 is 37.3 per cent. Thirty-eight per cent of 600 is 228. So the claim carries two different marks in one sentence, four points apart on a 600-point scale, and a candidate on 225 would be inside one of them and outside the other.
A number that has lost agreement with its own bracket has been retold at least once on the way. That is reason enough to wait for the announcement rather than pick whichever half suits you.
What has actually been announced
- The 2018 E.C. remedial results opened on 1 September 2026 at result.ethernet.edu.et, under Remedial Examination.
- The choice of university and field is open now and closes on ጳጉሜን 05, the last day of the Ethiopian year.
- The pass mark and the placement for the 2018 E.C. remedial students are described as coming soon. No date has been given.

How the previous remedial round was marked
This part is settled and is worth having alongside the rest. In the earlier remedial round, students were assessed 70 per cent centrally and 30 per cent at their institution. Those who scored 50 per cent or above went on to the freshman course. Students who sat the Grade 12 national exam, scored under 50 per cent but met the Ministry's criteria could follow the remedial programme at public universities and through other routes, and the cut-off for that was published at the time.
