Seven universities have set their registration dates

Five of the seven notices carry the same warning about arriving outside the window: a student who comes before the stated days or after them will not be accommodated. Bahir Dar, Bonga, Mekdela Amba and Salale say it and name no late day at all. Wollo says it and still names one. Werabe names a late day without the warning, and Oda Bultum's notice carries neither.

Werabe, Oda Bultum, Mekdela Amba, Bonga and Wollo all end the same way. Students the Ministry of Education places at them for 2019 E.C., and students who took the 2018 E.C. remedial programme at that same university and reached the pass mark, will be called in a later announcement. None of the five names a date for it, and one of them, Werabe, says the announcement will come through official media channels. Bahir Dar published two notices on the same day. The first is the ordinary one: third-year and above undergraduates, returning postgraduates, and second-year students who already know their department register on Meskerem 7 and 8 at their own campuses. Seven departments are named for that second-year group, which are Anesthesia, Comprehensive Nursing, Law, Midwifery, Pharmacy, Pre-medicine and Veterinary Medicine.

The second notice is for everyone who started at Bahir Dar in 2018 E.C. and is still waiting to be given a department. They report on Meskerem 6 and 7, which is 16 and 17 September, a day before the rest, and the campus they report to depends on their band.

The department itself is chosen online, in the student choice system the notice calls SIMS. It opens on Meskerem 5 and the choice closes on Meskerem 8 at 8:30 in the morning. The notice is blunt about the student who does not use it: anyone who has not chosen in the system will not be accommodated. It also asks each student to look at how many places a department is taking before picking it.

• Wollo asks every student for two 3x4 photographs, and asks them to report at the campus they study at, which is Dessie, Kombolcha or the specialty medicine campus.
• Salale asks every student to carry a national identity card.
• Mekdela Amba splits its registration by faculty: natural science students at the main campus, social science students at the Mekane Selam campus.
• Bahir Dar asks its returning students to register at their own campuses, and its 2018 E.C. intake to check a department's quota before choosing it.
• Oda Bultum points students at its own website and at its Telegram and Facebook channels for anything further.
