What did Addis Ababa show the Nigerian delegation?

Fana Broadcasting Corporate reported on Meskerem 29, 2019 E.C. (9 October 2026) that Addis Ababa city shared its experience and best practices in early childhood development with a delegation from Nigeria, led by Vice President Kashim Shettima.

The exchange focused on the city's Early Years Development Programme. Through it, the Addis Ababa City Administration has expanded child-focused services and facilities as part of what the report calls a "Generation of Medemer".

During the visit, the delegation toured neighbourhood playgrounds, childcare centres, preschools, health service facilities and parental guidance centres set up under the programme.

Mayor Adanech Abebe said the city had taken initiatives to make sure children have balanced nutrition, healthcare, education and safe places to play, and that investment in children lays the foundation for the future. She also said the city had changed considerably over the past five years, with particular attention given to programmes for children and adolescents.

02

Which families and services does this affect?

The programme's services are aimed at children from their earliest years in Addis Ababa. The places the report names, namely playgrounds, childcare centres, preschools, health services and parental guidance centres, are the ones families who use them in the city will know.

The report does not say whether the programme covers children outside Addis Ababa. It also gives no age range, no number of children served and no name of the bureau that runs each service. Those details have not been announced in this report.
