What has Kotebe University announced?

The university's Registrar and Alumni Directorate issued a notice, which Tikvah Education reported on Meskerem 29, 2019 E.C. (9 October 2026). It tells students placed by the Ministry of Education in regular degree programmes for the 2019 E.C. academic year to report to the university in person on Tikimt 5 and 6, 2019 E.C. (15 and 16 October 2026).

The notice says the university will not accept students who arrive before or after those dates. It names the institution in Amharic as ኮተቤ የትምህርት ዩኒቨርሲቲ, which is Kotebe Education University in English.

02

Which students does this notice cover?

The notice covers students whom the Ministry of Education has placed at Kotebe for regular degree programmes in the 2019 E.C. academic year. The report does not say which departments, grades or regions the students come from, and it does not mention students in other programmes.

Students placed elsewhere, or placed for a programme other than a regular degree, are not named in this notice. Their parents should confirm with the Ministry or the university before travelling.

When do students report, and what must they bring?

According to the notice, students must bring the following.

Bring these to registration

  • Original and copy of your grade 8 regional examination result card
  • Original and copy of your grade 9 to 12 transcript
  • Original and copy of your grade 12 leaving certificate
  • One PDF soft copy scanning items 1 to 3 above
  • Three passport-size photographs
  • One passport-size photograph in scanned soft copy
  • Your national ID
  • Your own bedsheet, blanket and pillowcase. The notice then names a sports item, but the line is cut off before it says what the item is.
  1. Gather your documents

Collect the originals and copies listed above, and scan the three certificates into one PDF before you leave home.

  2. Plan for both days

Report on Tikimt 5 and 6, 2019 E.C. The notice does not say which of the two days applies to which student, so check with the university.

  3. Watch for hours and place

The reporting hours, the place on campus and any fee have not been announced. Follow the university's own channels for them.

05

What led to this notice?

The notice follows the Ministry of Education's placement of students for the 2019 E.C. academic year. The report does not describe how the placement was made, how many students were placed at Kotebe, or when the placement was announced.

The university asks for grade 8, grade 9 to 12 and grade 12 documents at registration, so students should prepare these in advance.
