What did Debre Tabor University announce?
Debre Tabor University announced registration for the 2019 academic year for two groups of students. Tikvah University posted the notice on Meskerem 27, 2019 E.C. (7 October 2026), and Tikvah Education carried the same notice on the same day. Both reports say the university will hold registration on Tikimt 9 and 10, 2019 E.C. (19 and 20 October 2026).
The first group is new first-degree (freshman) students placed at the university for 2019. The second is students who took their 2018 remedial programme at Debre Tabor and reached a pass result.
Which students does this affect?
The notice covers two groups: new first-degree students assigned to Debre Tabor for 2019, and 2018 remedial students who studied at the university and passed.
Remedial students placed at Debre Tabor for 2019 are not covered by these dates. The university says it will call them to register in a separate notice.
When is registration, and what do you need to bring?
| Day | Date in both calendars |
|---|---|
| Registration day 1 | Tikimt 9, 2019 E.C. (19 October 2026) |
| Registration day 2 | Tikimt 10, 2019 E.C. (20 October 2026) |
| Remedial students placed for 2019 | Not announced. The university will call them in a separate notice. |
The notice lists the documents to bring. It names a national ID, but the reports do not say whether the Fayda digital ID is accepted, and the university has not said so in them.
Documents to bring
- Original and copy of the grade 8 certificate
- Original and copy of the grade 9 to 12 transcripts
- Original and copy of the grade 12 certificate
- Four recent 3 by 4 passport photographs
- National ID
- Bedsheet, blanket, pillowcase and sports clothes
The notice does not mention a registration fee or the hours of each day, and the university has not announced them in these reports.
What should you do now?
Check your registration day
The notice gives Tikimt 9 and 10 to both groups and does not split them by day. Ask the university which day you should come before you travel.
Prepare your documents
Gather the originals and copies listed above, along with your photographs and bedding.
Wait for the remedial call
If you were placed at Debre Tabor as a remedial student for 2019, watch for the separate notice the university says it will issue.
What came before this announcement?
This notice was first reported in an earlier story on Debre Tabor's freshman registration. Other universities have also set first-year registration for Tikimt 9 and 10: Woldia University and Dambi Dollo University.
