Debre Tabor says seven Disqualified results were an error

The registrar's office at Debre Tabor University published a notice saying the results of seven of its remedial programme students had been marked Disqualified by mistake, and that it had informed the Educational Assessment and Examinations Service.

• Seven candidates in total, three in the social science stream and four in natural science.
• All seven sat at the Debre Tabor University examination centre.
• The registrar's office reported the error to the assessment service.
• The seven still have to apply to the service themselves, which is why the university asked that the notice reach them.

The notice went out on ነሐሴ 28, which is 3 September 2026, two days after the remedial results opened.

Students at several universities have been reporting a Disqualified verdict on their whole result since the release. Because the kind of slip described at Debre Tabor could sit behind some of them, the request is that universities re-examine the results of their own remedial candidates rather than leave every case to the student.

The registrar's notice lists the seven students by name. We have left the names out and printed the counts, the streams and the centre instead. The seven already know who they are, and what anyone else needs from this page is the way to file a complaint. A page that puts a young person's name beside a failed exam is one they would keep being found by for years.
