What did the minister say after his reappointment?
Fana Broadcasting Corporate reported on 9 October 2026 (Meskerem 29, 2019 E.C.) that Berhanu Nega (Prof.) was reappointed Minister of Education on 8 October 2026 (Meskerem 28, 2019 E.C.). Speaking to Fana Media Corporation after the reappointment, he said the education sector reform under way has not yet been fully completed.
According to the report, the minister said Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) wants the reform carried through to completion as it was started. Berhanu said he would work with more focus and determination than before to finish the process. He named two priorities for the coming period: fundamentally transforming the education system and ensuring the quality of education.
Which students, parents and teachers does the reform affect?
The report does not say which schools, grades or regions the reform will change first. It describes a change to the education system as a whole, so students, parents and teachers across the country are the people the pledge concerns. No specific rule for any of them was given.
The minister also spoke about national politics. He said the national interest should be the primary concern of all politicians, called for unity in addressing the country's challenges, and asked for differences to be settled through dialogue. These remarks concerned the national political climate and did not refer to a particular education policy.
