What the institution is now
Four things about the university come with the announcement, and they matter more to a student than the drawing does:
- It has been classified as an applied science university.
- Its stated focus is building the capacity of public service institutions and training in digitalisation.
- It has been called the Ethiopian Public Service University since 2018 E.C.
- It put its existing and new first-degree programmes to the Ministry of Education, and 18 of them were approved in Hamle 2018 E.C., the month running from 8 July to 6 August 2026.
Where a placement candidate meets this name
In 2018 E.C. the university admitted students placed by the Ministry of Education into undergraduate programmes for the first time, alongside the students it recruits from public sector institutions. That is the reason the name can appear on a placement letter to someone who has never applied to it. What the placement choice commits you to is in Choosing a university and a field.
