What did Adigrat University announce?
Fana Broadcasting Corporate reported on Tikimt 23, 2019 E.C. (2 November 2026) that Adigrat University had begun receiving returning and newly admitted students. The report says students arrived at the university that day, where they were welcomed by the university president, Dr. Gebremichael Woldegebriel, other officials and members of the students' union.
The university said the reception would continue through Tikimt 24, 2019 E.C. (3 November 2026). Tikvah University posted the same notice in Amharic on 2 November, and Tikvah Education shared it the same day.
Which students does this affect?
The notice covers both returning students and newly admitted students of Adigrat University. The sources do not give the number who arrived, the departments or years concerned, or whether the reception is limited to students who were placed at the university temporarily. How did this reception come about?
On Tikimt 20, 2019 E.C. (30 October 2026), Adigrat University said it would receive students who had been placed elsewhere on Tikimt 23 and 24, 2019 E.C. Fana Broadcasting Corporate also reported that higher education institutions across the Tigray region are resuming student admissions and academic activities. Mekelle University has recently welcomed newly admitted students, and schools in different parts of the region are beginning to resume teaching and learning.
