What does the training offer?
Tikvah Ethiopia posted the notice on its Telegram channel on Tikimt 3, 2019 E.C. (13 October 2026). It announced free sewing training with a competency certificate, run by STEMpower with Emmanuel Development Association (EDA) under the Windows of Hope project.
According to the post, participants gain practical sewing skills, life skills and business knowledge, along with a competency certificate. Participants who perform well in the training receive a sewing machine. The training is held at Akaki Training Center, at Akaki Polytechnic College.
Who can apply?
The notice is aimed at people living in Akaki Kality sub-city who want to learn sewing or create their own work. The Telegram post speaks of young people, while the registration form asks for people living in the sub-city, so the two sources describe the group differently.
The sources do not state a minimum age, an education level or the number of places. They do not say whether people from other sub-cities may apply.
What are the deadlines, and what do you need?
| Source | Registration deadline as written |
|---|---|
| Tikvah Ethiopia post, 13 October 2026 | Tikimt 15, 2018 E.C. |
| Registration form | Meskerem 8, 2018 E.C. |
Both deadlines carry the year 2018 E.C., but the Telegram post is dated 2019 E.C. The sources do not say which day is correct, and no Gregorian day can be given until the year is confirmed. The registration form does not show the date it was published.
The form names a second way to apply: people living in Woreda 9, 10, 12 and 13 can register in person at their woreda's Work and Skills Office. The sources do not announce any documents to bring, any fee or a start date for the training.
What should you do now?
Fill in the registration form
Complete the online form linked from the Tikvah Ethiopia post. If you live in Woreda 9, 10, 12 or 13, you can also register in person at the Work and Skills Office.
Ask which deadline applies
Because the notices give two different deadlines, ask your woreda's Work and Skills Office which one applies to you.
Note the training venue
Both sources say the training is held at Akaki Training Center, at Akaki Polytechnic College.
How did this training come about?
The training is delivered under the Windows of Hope project, which STEMpower runs with Emmanuel Development Association. The sources do not describe earlier rounds of the training, the number of places in past courses or the wider aims of the project, so none is given here.
