When and where does registration take place?
Mekdela Amba University announced that new first-year students, students who passed its remedial programme in 2018 E.C. and students temporarily placed from Tigray's public universities will register on Tikimt 9 and 10, 2019 E.C. (19 and 20 October 2026). The notice came from the university's registrar office and was carried by Tikvah Education and Tikvah University on Meskerem 30, 2019 E.C. (10 October 2026).
Registration is split by field of study. Natural science students register at the main campus, known as the Gimba campus. Social science students register at the Mekane Selam campus. Neither notice gives a start or finish time for either day.
Which students does this affect?
- First-year students placed at Mekdela Amba University in the regular 2019 E.C. programme.
- Students who followed the university's remedial programme in 2018 E.C. and reached a pass result.
- Students from Tigray's public universities who were temporarily placed at Mekdela Amba University.
Students placed for the remedial programme in 2019 E.C. are not given registration days in the notice. The university said those dates will be announced later, and it has not said when.

What should you do before the registration days?
Confirm your field and campus
Check whether you are a natural science or social science student, then find your campus in the table above.
Prepare your documents
Gather the originals of your certificates and transcripts, make a copy of each, and have your Fayda digital ID and TIN ready.
Plan your travel
Both days are listed as registration days, so plan the journey to the campus to cover both of them.
Follow the remedial dates
Students placed in the 2019 E.C. remedial programme should follow the registrar's channels, because their dates have not been announced.
What led to this, and what has not been announced?
The notice covers three groups at once: students placed in the regular 2019 E.C. programme, students who passed the remedial programme in 2018 E.C., and students temporarily placed from Tigray's public universities. The sources do not explain why students from Tigray were placed at Mekdela Amba temporarily, and the registration days for students placed in the 2019 E.C. remedial programme have not been announced.
