What did the Education Bureau announce?
Tikvah Education reported on Tikimt 12, 2019 E.C. (22 October 2026) that the Tigray Education Bureau had announced regular teaching and learning would restart in all schools from Monday, Tikimt 16, 2019 E.C. (26 October 2026). Its post also said the bureau had asked schools to finish their preparations from Friday.
Fana Broadcasting Corporate reported on Tikimt 13, 2019 E.C. (23 October 2026) that the regional Education Bureau confirmed preparations were complete to bring students back to classrooms. Fana gives the restart date as Monday, 26 October, and says the bureau called on teachers and students to report to their assigned schools ready to begin.
Officials of the region's caretaker administration visited Emperor Yohannes General Secondary School in Mekelle to check conditions. Fana reports they held talks with teachers and school administrators, while Tikvah Ethiopia said that classes had not yet started in Mekelle when it posted.
Which students and teachers does this affect?
