The four grounds the students give
- 1Geography and Physics. Social science students say their Geography scores, and natural science students their Physics scores, came back very low for many students at once, strong students included. They suspect a fault in the marking.
- 2The internet. They say the connection dropped or was cut at several universities while they were sitting the exam, which kept them from working calmly and finishing in time.
- 3Three rounds. The exam was given in three separate rounds, and they suspect results were mixed up between rounds. They ask for each result to be checked against the student's own record.
- 4Disqualified, then low. They say many of them were first shown as Disqualified, and that when the result was corrected it came back very low. Some ask for their Disqualified verdict to be looked at again.
What they are asking for
A second check of the exam system, the records from all three rounds and the marking. They also ask that any question found to be faulty be taken into account and their scores adjusted to match.
Where this sits
The Disqualified verdict has been reported since the results opened on 1 September, in the remedial results item. Debre Tabor University has said seven of its candidates were marked Disqualified in error, and that the assessment service takes the complaint from the candidate rather than from the university; that is in Debre Tabor's correction. A joint letter does not replace your own complaint about your own result. The mark that takes a remedial student into university was set on 14 September and is in the remedial cut-off.
