መሰረታዊ የእንቅስቃሴ ክህሎት

StepAction
1Line up in a row keeping distance, feet together, hands at the sides on the thighs.
2Jump feet apart sideways off the ground while stretching arms out and overhead to clap.
3Jump feet back together, land on the ground and return hands to the thighs.
4Repeat, moving from slow to fast.

When you use it

Use this when practising coordination of arms and legs together while moving on the spot.

Watch out

Start slowly and increase speed only gradually, as the task says, rather than jumping at full speed from the start.

02

ተከታታይነት ያለው የእንቅስቃሴ ክህሎት

When you use it

Use this when a teacher sets a circuit game with three stations. Students stand in two rows, run on the spot at the first ball, kick the heel to the hands from behind at the second, then open the legs sideways and clap overhead at the third before walking to the back of the line.

Watch out

Do not stop between stations. The skill is continuous, so move from one station to the next without a pause.

Drafted from Grade 2 Health and Physical Education, pages 19-31, then checked twice before it went up

When you use it

Use this when planning or judging a continuous movement sequence, such as the knee-drive or the side-bend, to check that it moves from easy to hard.

Watch out

Do not bring in a harder movement before the easier ones are done in order. The sequence keeps its order while the load rises and the duration gradually improves over time.

03

የጤናና ሰዉነት ማጎልመሻ በማህበራዊና ስነ-ልቦናዊ ትምህርት

StepWhat to do
1Students form a circle and stand.
2One student stands in the middle.
3The middle student says 'Yaakov' and gives a command.
4Students in the circle carry out the command without mistake.
5A student who does not follow the command is out of the game.
6The last student remaining wins and takes the middle place.

When you use it

Use this order to run a circle game where students practise following a spoken command exactly.

Watch out

The command only counts when the name Yaakov is said first. A command given without the name is not carried out.

Drafted from Grade 2 Health and Physical Education, pages 32-47, then checked twice before it went up

StepWhat to do
1Students stand a set distance apart around the prepared circle, and the dangerous area is marked with a sign.
2Students move around the circle in sawasawa steps.
3Students stop when the stop sign or sound is given.
4A student standing in the dangerous area when the stop is given is out of the game.
5The last student remaining wins.

When you use it

Use this order when you set up a moving game in a circle where students must stop safely on a signal.

Watch out

Mark the dangerous area before the game starts. A student who stops inside it when the stop signal sounds is out of the game.

04

የጤናና የአካል ብቃት እንቅስቃሴ

StepAction
1Students stand in two lines, keeping their distance.
2One student from each line steps forward, keeping the distance.
3The two students each hold one rope and jump on their own.
4After jumping, they return to the back of the line so that all students take part.

When you use it

Use this when you need an activity to build heart and lung fitness in a class lesson, with students working in pairs in turn.

Watch out

Rope jumping here is a light load kept up for a long time, so keep a steady pace rather than short, hard bursts.

Drafted from Grade 2 Health and Physical Education, pages 48-61, then checked twice before it went up

StepAction
1Sit on the floor with the legs stretched out in front.
2Stretch both arms sideways at shoulder height.
3Slowly twist from the waist to the right and to the left, pausing briefly each time.
4Stretch both arms forward and try to reach the toes.
5Keep the knees straight throughout. Do not bend them.

When you use it

Use this when you need to stretch the waist and legs for flexibility, during a warm-up or a fitness lesson.

Watch out

Keep the knees straight during the reach, and stretch only after the body has warmed up through movement, because flexibility develops in a warm body.

05

ጅምናስቲክ

When you use it

Use this before starting any gymnastics or physical activity. Wear full sports kit, warm the body up thoroughly, identify the type of activity you will do, prepare yourself for it, and progress from easy to hard.

Watch out

Do not skip the warm-up or attempt hard movements before easy ones. The chapter says these steps prevent sports injuries, and an unwarmed body is the usual cause of an injury in the first movements.

Questions students ask

What do the Grade 2 Health and Physical Education cards cover?
8 cards across 5 chapters of the national textbook: መሰረታዊ የእንቅስቃሴ ክህሎት, ተከታታይነት ያለው የእንቅስቃሴ ክህሎት, የጤናና ሰዉነት ማጎልመሻ በማህበራዊና ስነ-ልቦናዊ ትምህርት, የጤናና የአካል ብቃት እንቅስቃሴ and ጅምናስቲክ. You can take any chapter one card at a time on the page itself.
Is there a national exam in Grade 2?
No. Ethiopia sets national exams in Grade 6, Grade 8 and Grade 12 only. These cards are for your school's own exams, and for the national exam that comes a few years later.
Where do these cards come from?
They are drafted from Grade 2 Health and Physical Education, the Ministry of Education textbook for this grade. A second pass that cannot see the chapter then re-derives every formula, constant and table row, and anything it cannot confirm is held back instead of published.
Is this free?
Yes. Every card here is free to read and the printable sheet is free to download. Neither needs an account.
When was this last checked?
12 October 2026. Cards arrive chapter by chapter, and the line under each one says when that card was last read through.

Temari turns these cards into practice questions and marks them as you go, with an AI tutor to explain anything that did not land.
