ማህበራዊ እና ስሜታዊ እድገትን የሚያዳብሩ ልዩ ልዩ ጨዋታዎች

When you use it

Use this game when students practise listening carefully to a command and carrying out only the correct instruction.

Watch out

A command given without the name Yaqob is not carried out. A student who follows such a command is out of the game.

Drafted from Grade 5 Health and Physical Education, pages 8-24, then checked twice before it went up

03

ጤናና የአካል ብቃት እንቅስቃሴ

When you use it

Use this when you must perform the jumping jack, the exercise that builds heart and breathing strength by repeating one movement of opening and closing the arms and legs.

Watch out

The arms and legs move together as one sequence: the legs open as the arms rise, and both return to the start together. Do not move the arms and legs separately.

Drafted from Grade 5 Health and Physical Education, pages 25-49, then checked twice before it went up

When you use it

Use this when you perform the side-bending stretch that develops flexibility by leaning the body to the left and right.

Watch out

Lean slowly and stop as soon as a slight discomfort is felt. Do not force the bend or move quickly.

04

አትሌቲክስ

When you use it

Use this when a student starts a 100 m to 400 m sprint from the kneeling position on the three commands: on your marks, get set, go.

Watch out

Do not move before the command go. Wait with the weight forward on the front foot and hands until the last command is given.

05

ጅምናስቲክስ

StepWhat to do
1Stand with the feet shoulder-width apart.
2Squat down (ቁጢጥ) from the standing position.
3Bury the neck into the chest, tucking the chin.
4Place the hands on the floor to take the body weight.
5Roll forward on the back, keeping the legs drawn in close to the buttocks.
6Repeat the movement many times to become effective.

When you use it

Reach for this when you are asked to perform or explain the forward roll in free gymnastics.

Watch out

Keep the neck tucked into the chest and the legs drawn in to the buttocks while rolling; the chapter links both to a clean roll.

Drafted from Grade 5 Health and Physical Education, pages 66-77, then checked twice before it went up

When you use it

Reach for this when you practise hanging from a horizontal bar and swinging, with the hands or the legs hooked on the bar.

Watch out

Do not practise the hanging swing alone. The chapter says it needs a teacher's instruction or a helping friend, so work with one of them.

Questions students ask

What do the Grade 5 Health and Physical Education cards cover?
8 cards across 5 chapters of the national textbook: ማህበራዊ እና ስሜታዊ እድገትን የሚያዳብሩ ልዩ ልዩ ጨዋታዎች, ጤናና የአካል ብቃት እንቅስቃሴ, አትሌቲክስ, ጅምናስቲክስ and የኳስ ጨዋታዎች መሰረታዊ ክህሎት. You can take any chapter one card at a time on the page itself.
Is there a national exam in Grade 5?
No. Ethiopia sets national exams in Grade 6, Grade 8 and Grade 12 only. These cards are for your school's own exams, and for the national exam that comes a few years later.
Where do these cards come from?
They are drafted from Grade 5 Health and Physical Education, the Ministry of Education textbook for this grade. A second pass that cannot see the chapter then re-derives every formula, constant and table row, and anything it cannot confirm is held back instead of published.
Is this free?
Yes. Every card here is free to read and the printable sheet is free to download. Neither needs an account.
When was this last checked?
12 October 2026. Cards arrive chapter by chapter, and the line under each one says when that card was last read through.

Revise, then test yourself

Temari turns these cards into practice questions and marks them as you go, with an AI tutor to explain anything that did not land.
